Why The Buzz Around Cloud Computing?

Why The Buzz Around Cloud Computing? We offer unfathomable data cabling services in Dubai No wonder, cloud computing is ruling the roost where sharing the resources over the network (typically internet) is concerned. So, what is cloud computing? The cloud computing, in a nutshell, is making use of the virtual server at a remote location without actually having to pay for the hardware, software, storage or any resources independently as they are commonly available on a cloud. The examples of the common cloud applications we use today are the Dropbox, Google Docs, even Flickr, emails. We at VRS Technologies LLC provide Data cabling services for the public or private data centers in Dubai. Who does the cloud computing benefit the most? The cloud computing is a blessing to the small and medium-sized business (SMB) who needn’t invest in the expensive hardware, equipment maintenance, IT support. It is believed that 70% of the IT costs can be saved if the SMBs move their IT infrastructure to the cloud as you pay for only for what you use. What has the cloud computing replaced? Unlike the scenario where the server is used to host the hardware, OS and storage capabilities to provide applications and other resources for the company, the cloud presents the virtual server concept to the world of computing. Advantages of Cloud Computing As discussed earlier, cloud computing opens up a plethora of benefits to the organizations. They include: • Reliability: The client hardly gets affected if one data center is down. The pooled resources across the network make them available at all points of time. • Physical Security: The hardware is placed in a highly protected zone of climate controlled data centers. It is near to impossible to tamper with the server and the other resources in such an environment. • Scalability: Resources are available when the client needs them without having to worry about the delay or unavailability. • Cost-effective: Cloud computing saves the hardware, software, application, and storage costs and is especially beneficial for the SMBs. The clients will have to just pay for the specific time they make use of the resources from the cloud. • Flexibility: The clients can leverage the resources based on their requirement. They can pick and choose the features they require from IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. What is a hybrid cloud? There are three ways in which the cloud computing can be deployed at your organization. Public cloud: A third-party organization has the data center installed and provides the cloud services like storage, servers, hardware, and software to external clients. Private Cloud: The private cloud is where the data center is located on-site and the cloud computing services are used exclusively by that organization alone. Sometimes, the organizations seek the cloud providers’ service exclusively for themselves. Hybrid Cloud: Hybrid cloud is where the private cloud connects to a public cloud using a VPN connection. This is a more practical approach for companies of all sizes to make use of cloud computing other than the internet. The list of benefits of cloud computing is endless even though it is in the nascent stage of development. A lot more advantages of cloud computing can be expected over time as it is further investigated. The cloud computing data centers make use of the Fiber cabling for its ToR architecture. We at VRS Technologies LLC are pioneers in offering Data cabling solutions in Dubai including structured cabling services. Why is Structured Cabling a Preferred Network Architecture

Why is Structured Cabling a Preferred Network Architecture Read Post »

Why is Structured Cabling a Preferred Network Architecture How is Structured Cabling Different From Point to point Cabling We all know that anything that is well-planned, designed and laid out ahead in time has an edge over the last minute planning. The same can be said about the structured cabling and the point to point cabling. The Structured Cabling is more organized and predictable with all the add-ons, changes and moves well anticipated during the setup, which is, therefore, a more stable cabling network. On the other hand, the point to point cabling is a cable connection between the switch to switch, switch to the server or a server to storage. Though the upfront cabling is less in the point to point cabling, it leaves no room for flexibility. Any new additions, changes or moves should be done by the technician right from the beginning. How does Structured Cabling work? Structured cabling is also referred to as the any-to-all cabling. In this cabling method, the copper and the fiber patches are set up separately which each correspond to the copper patches of the Central Patching Area. There is a dedicated section in this cabinet where the fiber cables run. Therefore, we can say that irrespective of any add-on connections or changes in the cabling needs, the fixed portion of the cabinet remains unchanged. Key Points of Structured cabling architecture: • Structured Cabling is a predictable, flexible stable cabling architecture. • In case the structured cabling is well-planned, it can last up to 10 years witnessing 2 or 3 generations of active electronics. • The structured cabling is cost-effective as compared to the point to point cabling architecture, where each add-on, change or move will garner most cost. • The upfront cabling is more, in this case, the maintenance and its cost are almost negligible as they are passive channels that do not need upgrading. • All the fiber connections diverge to a single section of the central patching area. Any fiber connection changes that need to be incorporated can be done by mere switching the fiber cable from one port to another. • Cabling standards are written for 2-3 generations of active electronics. • Less contractor/technician visits to the premises as a fixed portion of the central patching area remains unchanged. • Faster deployment of equipment after the initial set up as no new cabling channels need to be set up each time. • Recycling of cables is minimized as several generations of electronics use the same channels. • Structured cabling is aesthetically neater as all that needs to be managed are the patch cords and jumpers. What is Point to Point Cabling? This is the cabling architecture which has been used since ages where the cabling connections are made from one point to another. Though initially, it seems very simple, going forward it creates a mess of cables which become confusing even to the contractors who deal with it. In fact, with this unplanned cabling architecture, many networks find themselves victimized as they need to keep upgrading it multiple times. Structured Cabling is an outright winner as per the cabling architecture norms, which needs keen planning and expertise. We at VRS Technologies LLC, are pioneers in providing Structured cabling services in Dubai. What Are Bend Radius and Bend Insensitive Cables in Fiber Optic Cabling? Advantages of Bend Insensitive Fiber Optic Cabling Most of us who have the general idea of structured cabling, know that fiber optic cables are made of glass. And that, they transmit the data in the form of light pulses. But, those who deal with the fiber optic cabling day in and day out only are aware of the fact that one drawback that these cables have is, they are rigid and fragile. They are difficult to bend, given the material they are made of, especially in the far to reach corners. However, the fiber optic cables are expected to bend only to a certain degree to achieve the cabling requirements. Now, here’s the catch. There’s an optimum bend radius while installing the fiber optic cabling, which has to be implemented in order to avoid the loss of the data, else there might be repercussions. What could be those consequences if the fiber optic cable is bent too much or too less? • The data in the form of the light pulses escape from the bends and the data is lost by the time it reaches the destination. This phenomenon is called the bend loss, where the data is compromised by the time it is transmitted to the endpoint • The fiber optic cable may also be permanently damaged causing the micro cracks in the cables. • There is another cause for the micro bends and data loss, which is due to excessively tightly fastened cables. What is bend radius of fiber optic cables? The bend radius or the minimum bend radius is the minimum allowable bending of the cable employed during the fiber optic cabling before it sustains damage or limits the bandwidth of the cable. Every cable has a bend radius based on the make of the cable. There is a standard bend radius for a fiber optic cable which is 10 times the cable’s outside diameter in the absence of the pull-load. However, during the presence of the tensile load, the bend radius is 15 times the cable’s outside diameter. The following formula is given to calculate the bend radius of the fiber optic cables: Minimum bend radius =Cable Outer Diameter x Cable Multiplier Note: The cable multiplier depends on the industry standards of the cable type. For the fiber optic cables, the cable multiplier is 6x for the cables rated 5000 volts or less and 8x the cables rated over 5000 volts. What are Bend insensitive Fiber Optic Cables? The fiber cables are basically designed to avoid bending loss as much as possible, however, it is the nature of the fiber cable’s design, fiber type, transmission wavelength that gives way to a certain degree of bending loss. Bend-insensitive cables were designed in 2007 for single mode and in 2009 for multimode. Apparently, with the advent of the bend-insensitive fiber optic cables, these cables can now be bent to any small degree and stapled without any significant loss of data. Advantages of Bens insensitive Fiber optic cables: • As opposed to earlier where the fiber optic cabling was a part of outdoor cabling, due to its increased flexibility, can be used for indoor fiber cables installations. • Increased confidence levels in maintaining the superior bandwidth of the fiber optic cables. • Increased sustenance is observed in the fiber optic cables despite the multiple bends, clamping and stapling of the cables. • The cost of the bend-insensitive fiber optic cable is not much higher than the regular fiber cables. • Same splicing method can be used in both the fiber optic cable types.
